Why is Choice essential to your well being?
What does it mean for you to be At Choice?
Could it possibly mean that you have the right to decide the who, what, where, when, how and why of your life?
And…if you believe that you are intentionally living “At Choice” are you really?
Choice…Is?
Choice is about being autonomous. It’s about being connected to the “real you,” your true self and living out the expression of that. It’s about totally owning your existence, living your life as you desire and doing no one else harm.
It’s about making a decision, following it through and sticking with it even if and while others are attempting to control you by fear and/or guilt.
It’s about standing up for yourself and not succumbing to the will, demands, manipulations, and opinion of others.
It’s about living the life you want to live and owning your decisions free of guilt and fear.
Critical Importance of Choice.
Every aspect of your life is based on your choice. It is what makes your life what it is. You create the life you want to live through the power of your conscious choice.
In order for you to have unshakeable confidence, to feel the thrill of being alive, to quench your need for significance and know that your life matters, to feel cared for and cared about and a part of a community, to be growing and expanding, to effectively contribute something of value that helps others makes the world a better place. In order for you to have these essential needs met, you must OWN YOUR CHOICE.
When you don’t, your change attempts fail to produce results and the intimate, personal and internal dynamics that are causing you pain in your life resist being healed and overcome. Your false self thrives.
Also because of how spiritual law works, in your outer external world, you also encounter setbacks, situations, events and circumstances that don’t match what you desire in your heart. Bottom line, your issues do not get resolved.
Choice is Power…one of your keys to Personal Power!
When you make a choice, that choice is a contractual agreement. An agreement that comes with real world consequences that will be experienced in your life. Your conscious or unconscious choices have the same exact effect of you signing a physical document agreeing to some manner of experience in this world. This is certainly not a power that you want to take lightly. Our lives are based on choice and built one choice at a time.
Your Choice is Your Truth.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. We are purpose driven beings who have come into this life committed to fulfilling that purpose. Though we may seem to have forgotten, deep within we remember what our commitments are, they are our truths.
Choice is how we honor those commitments. When we make a choice that goes against those commitments we put a wedge between ourselves and our truth and become misaligned.
Choice Is How You Learn That You Can Depend On Yourself.
Choice is a cousin to trust. Trust is the adhesive of all that we do and it makes things work. Trust is the foundation of a commitment. When we break a commitment with ourselves we undermine our ability to trust ourselves and sow seeds of doubt into our hearts – subconscious minds. Self Doubt is born or further entrenched within us by poor choosing. Since our lives manifest according to our beliefs, as a man thinketh in his heart so is he, Pr 23:7 it is essential that we protect our power to choose.
Self Trust is empowered by your choice making process. Trust requires that you know your own experience and honor it. Here is where the issues come in.
Some of us have been conditioned to seek third-party approval before we make choices in our lives, especially the ones that are critical. Some of us are under the illusion that we are living our lives at choice but really are being controlled by the past. We think we are choosing but self fate is what we are experiencing.
Being at choice cannot happen if you are giving your perception away to another. It is owning your experiencing. When you are being at choice you are taking 100% responsibility for your life. You are present to how you feel, non judgmental and in command of your actions.
So what’s hard about this? Societal rules and Religious beliefs. Unfortunately, not everyone is managing their energy so that they maintain a healthy stock of their own personal power. For these individuals, they must extract the power they need from others since they don’t generate it within themselves. Whether the attempted control is from society or a religious sect it’s still robbery and a theft of power.
Where Does The Power Come From?
It is in your perceiving that this power is developed and increased. Your perception is how you see things, how you feel about things, the way that you think about things, the meaning that you give to things. Another word for this is consciousness. The word consciousness is synonymous with Energy, the mean the same thing.
This energy need of emotional vampires, choice stealers and manipulators, people who lack personal power is so essential and so critical to them that they will expertly manipulate you into deferring your perception to them so that they can extract power from you willing. Wonder why you feel drained by certain people?
With this power gone, you can’t unfold and expand like you were designed.
Misalignment to your true self happens when you live accepting what other’s perceive as your truth.
Know this! You don’t need to go outside yourself to get approval to act on behalf of your own life. You’ve been given authority by God to OWN your life.
You Are In Partnership With God Over Your Life.
You were created to experience. Your have senses. Your senses don’t exist on anyone else’s body. You have your own mind, no one else can think your thoughts. You have a spirit that connects to God and an intuition when developed, that will work with your spirit to equip you to be in position to receive all that God has made available for you.
Your experiences will be unique and your will perceive things differently from everyone else on this planet. That is how your were designed, State-of-the-art, that is what you are.
The power of choice was given to you freely and you are to be a steward over it. Use it to design your life according to your purpose and desires. You have a right to pursue this, do so with full intention and joy.

Lana, yes we need to acknowledge that there is always a choice and be willing to accept the results from those choices.
Yes, true Lilia and thank you for your comment, there is always a choice and resulting consequences. Unfortunately, many people don’t understand that choice isn’t only about making a decision but involves using their power and is the act that gives that power away.
BRAVO, Lana…
Thank you for reenforcing the power we have by making choices that fit us!
It’s so important to analyze our behavior based on our cultural demands… what we ‘should be and do’, rather than our own wishes and wants. Marching to what society
thinks of us is like living in a prison without bars!
Super article, thank you so much,
Becky
Hi Becky, thank you! Shoulding all over ourselves is rarely if never any good. I agree, listening to our wishes and wants is a key to being powerful and happy. You know a lot about that. No more self prison!
Topic of choice is always fascinating. We all have a choice at any given circumstance. Still, there is a price to be paid with our choices. We should always keep in mind the consequences. Thanks for a great post, Lana!
Hello Silvia…”price to be paid with our choices,” exactly! That’s why it is so important to own your choice and to learn how to withstand those “choice stealers” who want to do that job for you. Thanks for visiting me here again.
Lana,
A job well done on exploring what choice is. It is the whole reason we are here on this planet, to make choices.
Thanks for opening my mind a little more.
Chris, Yes. I agree with you, choice is huge! As you aptly put it, “It is the whole reason we are here on this planet, to make choices.” We each get to open one another’s mind more each day. Thank you for commenting.
Great reminders on the aspects of Choice. Wow, thanks!
Thank you Linda, so glad you found it a helpful reminder.
God wired us in a way that we need each other, but that means we cannot get rid of our bad habits and hang-ups on our own. You can’t do it alone, because God made you to need other people, and I believe people need to read this post!
Great job Lana!
Absolutely Kenneth, we need each other. We can’t heal on our own. Fortunately, there are plenty of trustworthy people that we can trust, like yourself, thanks to God for this. We were intended to be free to thrive. Please share this post with others who may need to hear this information. Appreciate your comment. Thank you.
Great post Lana. Our lives are the result of the series of choices we make, large and small. I like your point about the relationship between choice and trust and owning and honoring our choices. This is indeed empowering…
Thank you Linda, yes, indeed choices are empowering. Choice is definitely related to trust. We instinctively know when we are denying the voice of our true selves and ignoring our intuition. We may try to mask this but making a choice that goes against what we truly believe or want breeds self-doubt and manifest negativity in our life experiences. Our health is affected, our relationships impacted and so much more. We aren’t able to reach our potential when we dishonor our responsibility to be in control of our choice. Thanks so much for your comment.
Powerful, powerful words. This is the best I’ve ever read on choices. I really liked your statement “your choice is your truth.” And the part about being in partnership with God over our lives is a similar point that I make in my ebook called “The Christian’s Guide to Thriving Despite Life’s Hurts: 9 Powerful Action Steps to Renewing Hope.” My 9th point is “Believe that you are the co-author with God for writing your life story.” Thanks for writing this. Blessings, Amy
Amy, thank you. Love the title of your eBook, it sounds amazing. So you resonate with the ideas that we are co-author’s with God and our choice is our truth? What makes you feel this way?
Yes, I believe that our choice is an individual freedom that we must protect and use wisely. Conscious or unconscious we are making choices all the time and we aren’t excused from the consequences of them. So it would be in our best interest to understand this power and take 100% responsibility for it. Thanks so much for visiting my blog, I appreciate your comments.
Lana,
Thanks for taking us through all of the aspects of choice. It is a gift that each of us has received. The power of the gift is so immense. How we make our choices so important.
Owning the power of our choices is important.
Michele, you are quite welcome. I agree, choice is a gift that contains our power to create our lives and impact others. Owning that power is essential to our well being. Thank you for your comment.
